Laminar Flow

So I had to look this up.  Wikipedia says:  "Laminar flow occurs when a fluid flows in parallel layers, with no disruption between the layers.  At low velocities the fluid tends to flow without lateral mixing, and adjacent layers slide past one another like playing cards."

I watched this video 3 times and it still amazes me.  Seems like there should be some practical application of this phenomenon.
